WASHINGTON, DC, May 2, 2022 – The Washington Oxi Day Foundation congratulates Lieutenant General Andrew P. Poppas on his recent promotion and assignment. On April 28, the US Senate confirmed General Poppas for appointment to the rank of General and assignment as Commanding General, United States Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Poppas, the highest raking Greek-American in the US Armed Forces, is currently the Director of the Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Poppas will now become the Commanding General of over 800,000 US Army Active, Reserve and National Guard soldiers. FORSCOM is the largest United States Army command and provider of expeditionary, regionally engaged, campaign-capable land forces to combatant commanders.
Poppas has given the keynote address at the last two Washington Oxi Day Foundation ceremonies at the National WWII Memorial honoring Greek-American veterans.
