Danialle Karmanos

Danialle Karmanos is a philanthropist and community activist committed to driving positive change in Detroit. She is the founder of Kids Work It Out (KWIO), a Wayne State University Center for Health and Community Impact program that fights childhood obesity by providing kids with tools needed to make healthy choices. Danialle began her career at 19 as a sports intern at WDIV-TV. Within a few years, she was writing and producing daily newscasts and feature presentations for the international Chrysler Employee Network. She went on to become one of the Detroit area’s most sought-after freelance writers and the executive producer of numerous live events and video programs for several Fortune 500 clients. In 2005, Danialle created KWIO and she continues to build and manage the initiative. KWIO uses a unique, yoga-based approach that boosts self-esteem through nutrition education and physical exercise. She created the curriculum to provide children with the added measure of confidence and optimism needed to exist and thrive amid the challenges of an urban environment. In 2012, KWIO and the Detroit Medical Center’s Children’s Hospital of Michigan announced a partnership to expand Danialle’s highly successful program to schools throughout metropolitan Detroit.
