On Thursday, October 27, 2011, the presentation of the Oxi Day Greatest Generation Awards took place at the National World War II Memorial. The Honorees included: Robert Joseph “Bob” Dole, on behalf of American WWII Veterans Introduced by Former US Ambassador to Belgium, Tom C. Korologos; and also Panagiotis M. Sakellaris, on behalf of Greek WWII Veterans, who was introduced by George P. Sakellaris. The Mistress of Ceremonies was Former Assistant Secretary of the Navy and Assistant Secretary of State, Barbara Spyridon Pope.
