On Thursday, October 27, 2011, a Black Tie Banquet and Presentation of the Oxi Day Awards was held at the Four Seasons Hotel. The evening began with Receptions, followed by a dinner with Master of Ceremonies, Chris Matthews, MSNBC Television Jounalist and Author. The Honorees for the evening included, Jamel Battaieb, who accepted the Oxi Day Award on behalf of the people of Sidi Bouzid, Tunisia. Later, Carl Gershman, National Endowment for Democracy President, introduced Aung San Suu Kyi of Burma, who accepted the Oxi Day Battle of Crete Award via video conference.
