Honored for saving women and children captured as sex slaves by the Hitler of today – ISIS
WASHINGTON, DC, November 18, 2015 — Khalil al-Dakhi, the man introduced as “The unsurpassed example of Oxi Day courage against the Hitler of today – ISIS,” was met with a standing ovation from top Washington policymakers and Greek-American leaders during the Foundation’s Annual Celebration at the United States Institute of Peace on October 28, 2015. The applause, lasting minutes, recognized al-Dakhi, a lawyer who gave up his practice to run an underground network of contacts rescuing Yazidi women and girls captured by ISIS as sex slaves.

In addition to recognizing Mr. al-Dakhi, this Washington Oxi Day Foundation dinner helped the fight against ISIS. At the October 28 event, Mr. al-Dakhi spoke with some of America’s top officials handling US efforts in Iraq and Syria. Planned follow-up meetings and the sharing of information should assist both US efforts against ISIS and Mr. al-Dakhi’s continued rescue of women and children.
