Former Navy Assistant Secretary Barbara Pope to Emcee Presentation of Oxi Day Greatest Generation Awards at WWII Memorial

Former Assistant Secretary of the Navy Barbara Spyridon Pope will serve as master of ceremonies at the presentation of the Oxi Day Greatest Generation Awards on Thursday, October 27th at the National World War II Memorial in Washington, DC, as part of the first annual Washington Oxi Day Celebration.

Pope served as Assistant Secretary of the Navy under President George H.W. Bush and later as Assistant Secretary of State under President George W. Bush.

The Oxi Day Greatest Generation Awards recognize a Greek and an American WWII veteran for their courageous service.

Former U.S. Senate Majority Leader and nominee for President of the United States, Bob Dole, will be the American soldier honored. The Greek soldier to be honored will be announced soon.
